| 현시내 위스콘신 주립대학에서 동남아시아 지역학과 역사학을 전공한 현시내 박사는 2020년 9월부터 서강대학교 동아연구소에 연구교수로 재직 중이다. 태국의 냉전 시기 정치사와 국경지대의 소수민족문제, 그리고 냉전 시기 미국의 대동남아 정책을 연구해왔다. 태국의 국경수비대의 역사를 통해 본 미국의 냉전 시기 근대화 정책과 대반란 활동(counterinsurgency)에 관한 책인 Indigenizing the Cold War: The Border Patrol Police and Nation-Building in Thailand가 하와이대학 출판부에서 2023년 4월에 발간 예정이다. 이와 함께 19세기부터 시작된 동남아시아 국경 지역 내 미국 개신교 선교 활동과 근대성의 전파에 관한 연구도 진행 중이다.
